🍄 Module 1: Mycoterra

Mycelium – het ondergrondse netwerk van schimmeldraden – vormt het verborgen lichaam van de schimmel en blijkt ook een verrassend sterk en veelzijdig materiaal. In deze module wordt onderzocht hoe een levend organisme kan uitgroeien tot een tastbaar object.

• Introductie in de biologie van schimmels en de rol van mycelium in ecosystemen.
• Praktische kennismaking met het kweken van oesterzwammen en Reishi-mycelium.
• Experimenteren met mallen, pigmenten en verschillende substraatcombinaties.
• Toewerken naar een eigen creatie: van een kleine sculptuur tot een functioneel designobject.

🦠 Module 2: Bioplastica

Data: 06/11, 13/11, 20/11 & 27/11
Bioplastics zijn materialen gemaakt uit natuurlijke grondstoffen zoals gelatine en algen. Ze vormen een duurzaam alternatief voor klassieke plastics en openen de deur naar experiment en creatief hergebruik.

• Kennismaking met de oorsprong en toepassingen van bioplastics.
• Hands-on sessies met verschillende ingrediënten en recepten.
• Mogelijkheden om kleurstoffen, texturen en structuren toe te voegen.
• Creatie van unieke bioplastic-objecten: denk aan sculpturen, gebruiksvoorwerpen of experimentele vormen.

🧉 Module 3: Kombruja

Data: 04/12, 11/12, 18/12 & 08/01
Tijdens het fermentatieproces van thee tot kombucha groeit een dikke laag Scoby die na droging en bewerking verandert in een soepel, leerachtig materiaal. Deze module opent een wereld waar biologie, mode en design elkaar ontmoeten.

• Introductie in fermentatie en het proces van kombucha-productie.
• Praktisch experimenteren met het kweken en oogsten van kombucha-leer.
• Technieken voor drogen, verven en vormen.
• Mogelijkheden om accessoires, textiele experimenten of artistieke installaties te ontwikkelen.

Eindpresentatie ✨

Aan het einde van de reeks worden alle resultaten getoond tijdens een gezamenlijke vernissage. Wat er gepresenteerd wordt, is volledig afhankelijk van de deelnemers: een installatie met gegroeid mycelium, een serie bioplastic-sculpturen, een kledingstuk uit kombucha-leer, of zelfs een audiovisueel werk dat het maakproces in beeld brengt. Alles is mogelijk ;))

🍄 Module 1: Mycoterra

Mycelium – the underground network of fungal threads – forms the hidden body of the fungus and turns out to be a surprisingly strong and versatile material. In this module, participants explore how a living organism can grow into a tangible object.

• Introduction to the biology of fungi and the role of mycelium in ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience with cultivating oyster mushrooms and Reishi mycelium.
• Experimentation with molds, pigments, and different substrate combinations.
• Development of a personal creation: anything from a small sculpture to a functional design object.

🦠 Module 2: Bioplastics

Dates: 06/11, 13/11, 20/11 & 27/11

Bioplastics are materials made from natural resources such as gelatin and algae. They provide a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics and open the door to playful experimentation and creative reuse.

• Introduction to the origins and applications of bioplastics.
• Hands-on sessions with different ingredients and recipes.
• Options to add pigments, textures, and unique structures.
• Creation of personal bioplastic objects: from sculptural works to functional items or experimental forms.

🧉 Module 3: Kombruja

Dates: 04/12, 11/12, 18/12 & 08/01

During the fermentation process of tea into kombucha, a thick Scoby layer grows. Once dried and processed, this layer transforms into a flexible, leather-like material. This module opens a world where biology, fashion, and design merge.

• Introduction to fermentation and the kombucha-brewing process.
• Hands-on experimentation with growing and harvesting kombucha leather.
• Techniques for drying, dyeing, and shaping the material.
• Opportunities to create accessories, textile experiments, or artistic installations.

Final Presentation ✨

At the end of the series, all results will be showcased during a collective vernissage. What is presented is entirely up to the participants: a structure grown from mycelium, a collection of bioplastic sculptures, a garment made from kombucha leather, or even an audiovisual piece reflecting on the process.
