Onze digitale en fysieke werelden zijn niet meer strikt gescheiden. En onze situatie van het voorbije jaar heeft deze tendens alleen maar versterkt. Vanuit de voorstelling PRESS Play onderzoekt playField welke invloed sociale media heeft op de jongsten onder ons. Hoe ervaren kinderen de maakbaarheid van hun online persoonlijkheid? Is het een avatar of een verlengstuk van zichzelf? En in welke mate kunnen ze de controle over hun digitale zelf behouden?

Met dat uitgangspunt gaan wij gedurende tien weken aan de slag om scenografisch materiaal te maken voor deze voorstelling. Je krijgt de creatieve vrijheid om zelf op onderzoek te gaan en om tegelijk samen te leren en te experimenteren.
PRESS Play is een theaterproductie voor kinderen vanaf tien jaar. Deze voorstelling stelt de kinderen in het publiek in staat om zelf aan de controleknop te zitten. Ze kunnen verschillende onderdelen van de scenografie beïnvloeden. Wat gebeurt er op het toneel? Hoe schijnt het licht? Waarheen gaat het verhaal? Daarbij komt de vraag naar boven drijven of algoritmes wel echt de mogelijkheid tot maakbaarheid bieden. Want wat gebeurt er als iedereen een afstandsbediening heeft?
Hoe zou jij dit aanpakken? En hoe ervaar jij de algoritmes van sociale media? Hoe kan jij de gevolgen van sociale media weergeven in een scenografische installatie? Wil je werken met analoge technologie of digitale? Waarover zou jij de kinderen controle geven? Hoe vertaal je digitale maakbaarheid naar het theater? Hoe maak je van je idee iets tastbaars dat een levendig onderdeel van het decor kan worden? Alles kan en alles mag.
Samen onderzoeken we het thema, maar jij bepaalt zelf wat je wil maken. We zijn alvast benieuwd!
Waarom meedoen?
Daag jezelf uit. Voor PRESS Play mag je originele concepten in het leven roepen. Daarnaast krijg je steun van een fijn team om je skills te verbeteren én leer je leuke mensen kennen die je ideeën alleen maar meer doen borrelen.
De uitvindingen en machines zullen uiteindelijk als decor voor de voorstelling worden gebruikt, of tentoongesteld worden tijdens het premièreweekend (eind februari 2022) van PRESS Play in KOPERGIETERY.
Het enige dat belangrijk is, is dat je zin hebt om mee te doen. Voorkennis is niet verreist.

Wanneer?
Het traject start op 23 september 2021 en loopt tot 2 december. Wekelijks komen we elke donderdagavond van 19 tot 22 uur samen om aan je project te werken.

Let your ideas run wild within the crazy world of PRESS Play
Our digital and physical worlds are no longer strictly separated. And our situation over the past year has only reinforced this tendency. From the production PRESS Play, playField investigates what influence social media has on the youngest among us. How do children experience the constructibility of their online personality? Is it an avatar or an extension of themselves? And to what extent can they maintain control over their digital selves?
With this as a starting point, we'll work for ten weeks to create scenographic material for this production. You will be given the creative freedom to explore on your own and at the same time to learn and experiment together.
PRESS Play is a theatrical production for children ten years and older. This production allows the children in the audience to be at the control button themselves. They can influence different parts of the scenography. What is happening on stage? How does the light shine? Where does the story go? In the process, the question arises as to whether algorithms really offer the possibility of constructability. After all, what happens when everyone has a remote control?
How would you handle this? And how do you experience the algorithms of social media? How can you represent the consequences of social media in a scenographic installation? Do you want to work with analog technology or digital? What would you give the children control over? How do you translate digital manufacturability to the theater? How do you turn your idea into something tangible that can become a living part of the set? Anything goes and everything is allowed. Together we will explore the theme, but you decide what you want to make. We are already curious!
WHY PARTICIPATE?
Challenge yourself. For PRESS Play you can create original concepts. In addition, you will be supported by a great team to improve your skills and you will meet nice people who will make your ideas bubble up even more.
The inventions and machines will eventually be used as a backdrop for the performance, or be exhibited during the premiere weekend (late February 2022) of PRESS Play in KOPERGIETERY.
WHEN?
The project starts on September 23, 2021 and runs until December 2. Weekly, we will meet every Thursday evening from 7 to 10 pm to work on your project.
