Long Distant LARPing ♦ Kick Off weekend

Dit project, “Long Distance LARPing”, is een tweejarig onderzoeksproject waarin een LARP wordt ontwikkeld die op meerdere plaatsen tegelijk kan worden gespeeld (ongeacht hoe ver je van elkaar verwijderd bent) met behulp van digitale platforms als brug om verbinding te maken en te communiceren!

Voor wie:

Het project is bedoeld voor iedereen tussen 18 en 30 jaar oud. Je hoeft geen ervaring te hebben met LARP. Als je nieuwsgierig en speels bent en een open geest hebt, dan is dit iets voor jou!

Kick-off:

Om het project te starten organiseren Sickhouse en Nerdlab een vierdaagse kick-off op Festival Digital in Gent, waar podium, technologie en media samenkomen.

Tijdens het festival ga je:

• Workshoppen met personages en deelnemen aan LARP-sessies
• Deelnemen aan praktische workshops en gezamenlijke creatieve activiteiten
• Deelnemen aan andere festivalevenementen en contact leggen met de bredere festivalgemeenschap

Het doel van dit weekend is om het project te introduceren, samen LARP te verkennen en elkaar te leren kennen.

(Optioneel) Toekomstige “Long Distance LARPing”:

Na het festival word je uitgenodigd om het hele jaar door betrokken te blijven bij het project. Dit kan het volgende omvatten:

• Online LARPs
• Een zomerse VR LARP-workshop
• Een tweedaagse game jam
• Het ontwikkelen van 2-3 prototypes voor LARP op afstand
• Het presenteren van je creaties op toekomstige festivals, zoals Overkill Festival, Mutation Festival en meer.

This project, “Long Distance LARPing,” is a two-year research project developing a LARP that can be played in several places at the same time (no matter how far you are from each other) using digital platforms as a bridge to connect and interact!

For whom:

The project is for everybody between the ages of 18 to 30 years old. You don't need to have any experience with LARP. If you are curious and playful with an open mind this is for you!

Kick-Off:

To start the project, Sickhouse and Nerdlab are hosting a four-day kick-off at Festival Digital in Ghent, where stage, technology, and media collide.

During the festival, you’ll:

• Workshop characters and participate in LARP sessions
• Take part in hands-on workshops and collaborative creative activities
• Join other festival events and connect with the wider festival community

The goal of this weekend is to introduce the project, explore LARP together, and get to know each other.

What we offer:

(Optional) Future “Long Distance LARPing”:

After the festival, you’re invited to stay involved with the project throughout the year. This could include:

• Online LARPs
• A summer VR LARP workshop
• A two-day game jam
• Developing 2–3 long-distance LARP prototypes
• Presenting your creations at future festivals such as Overkill Festival, Mutation Festival, and more.
