Design To Decay

This Friday we have a lab on location. We meet at 18h in Nerdlab and leave together to the exposition at Parce. There we can visit the expo and learn more about it from Elizabeth and Mattie.

Once, people travelled from afar to Biotopia.
They came to grow materials. And to watch them fall apart.

What they found were works shaped by time, care, and living processes. Materials that are allowed to change. Slowly, visibly, sometimes against intention. Decay not as a failure, but as a collaborator.

In this exhibition, mycelium rises from waste and binds itself into form. Kombucha ferments into fragile skins, layer by layer. Bioplastics stretch and soften, carrying the marks of use, touch, and age. These materials are not controlled into perfection. They are guided, observed, and given space to become.

Design to Decay brings together material experiments born from curiosity and a deliberate loss of control. Some works feel complete. Others seem to hover in between: still drying, still shifting, still deciding what they are. Like a bruise changing color, or a jar quietly transforming on a shelf.

Come look closely. Come look again. Things are already changing.
