Als je even diep inademt in ons lab ruik je ze nog steeds. De heerlijke aroma's van Biotopia.🌳🌷🐝🪵

Een tijdje geleden lieten we ons verwonderen door enkele biologische processen van dichtbij te volgen. Door een leuke reeks workshops leerden we verschillende bio- materialen kennen en hoe ze zich gedragen doorheen de tijd.

'Wat als kunst en design niet bedoeld zijn om te blijven, maar om te verdwijnen?
DESIGN TO DECAY is een gratis tentoonstelling bij PARCE in Gent die biodesign en vergankelijkheid
centraal stelt. De expo toont werk ontstaan binnen Biotopia, een laagdrempelige workshopreeks
rond biomaterialen, geïnitieerd door twee Gentse makers: Mattie De Jonghe (24) en Elisabeth Depla (26).
De tentoongestelde objecten zijn gemaakt uit mycomaterialen, bioplastics en kombuchaleer, materialen die groeien, fermenteren en veranderen in de tijd.

In plaats van controle en perfectie staan
experiment, zorg en natuurlijke processen centraal.'

A while ago, we marvelled at some biological processes by observing them up close. Through a fun series of workshops, we learned about different biomaterials and how they behave over time.

'What if art and design are not meant to last, but to disappear?DESIGN TO DECAY is a free exhibition at PARCE in Ghent that focuses on biodesign and transience.

The exhibition showcases work created within Biotopia, an accessible series of workshops on biomaterials, initiated by two Ghent-based creators: Mattie De Jonghe (24) and Elisabeth Depla(26).

The objects on display are made from mycomaterials, bioplastics and kombucha leather, materials that grow, ferment and change over time.⏳🍄‍🟫🍌🪰

Instead of control and perfection, experimentation, care and natural processes take centre stage.'
