Jazz Birds

In this installation, the artist collective De Spullenmannen investigates the evolution of language within a colony of electronic birds and crickets that whistle after each other's sounds.

By imitating each other, a spontaneous group melody is created that constantly changes and develops. Who takes the lead, and who follows? The installation invites visitors to whistle along themselves, allowing them to directly influence the musical "language game" of the electronic animals. This creates a fascinating interaction between man and machine, in which communication and creation reinforce each other.
